The National Development and Reform Commission unveiled its medium and long-term plan for the development of the hydrogen energy industry from 2021 to 2035 on Mar 23. 

With the gathering of supporting enterprises, the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) is forming a more complete automobile industrial ecosystem with industrial resource-sharing and complementary functions such as high-end automobiles, new energy vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles.

During the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympic Games, the transportation sector for the first time introduced zero-pollution and zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell vehicles as connection tools.

"We are a key upstream component company for hydrogen fuel cells. During the Winter Olympics and Paralympics, more than 600 domestic hydrogen vehicles were equipped with our self-developed e-liquid pump," said Hu Fengbo, deputy general manager of Beijing Aier Aviation Technology.

For the layout of the hydrogen energy industry, having only core parts suppliers is far from enough. To further extend the industrial chain, the BDA has compiled a development plan for the hydrogen energy industry and introduced leading enterprises in the field.

Among them, United Fuel Cell System R&D (Beijing) Co. and Toyota SinoHytec Fuel Cell Co. have successively settled in the BDA. 

In addition, Beijing Innoreagen Technology Co., a newcomer to the area, has further expanded the application of hydrogen fuel cells. It has completed research and development for 220-kilowatt fuel cell modules, so that heavy trucks can also use hydrogen energy to drive.

In the downstream field of the hydrogen energy industry, the BDA has both national innovation centers such as the National New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center and enterprises such as Runwoda Group to start with the key technology of hydrogen energy batteries, and then enter the promotion and sales of hydrogen energy vehicles.
