Beijing E-Town's Urbanization Report released III

Updated: 2021-12-03

In the past five years, the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) has maintained a high level of infrastructure and citizens' satisfaction has continued to improve.

The report shows that in the past five years, many of the BDAs indicators have met the requirements of Beijings planning goals ahead of schedule.

By 2020, the per capita park and green area of the BDA will reach 27 square meters per person, far exceeding Beijing's current target.

PM2.5 has been reduced to 37 micrograms per cubic meter, which is close to the national second-level standard.

Traffic has improved significantly, overall congestion has eased, and citizens' satisfaction with the improvement of the urban slow-moving system has exceeded 70 percent.

Over the past five years, the BDA has maintained high-level infrastructure construction and promoted the optimization of the east-west passage in the area and the northern passage outside the area.

In 2018, Liangshui River Park opened; in 2019, Tongming Lake Park opened. Greenways in the two parks have also been put into use.

Furthermore, in the past five years, the energy consumption level of the BDA has also continued to decline.

Among them, energy consumption per unit of GDP decreased by 11.4 percent, water consumption per unit of GDP decreased by 4.8 percent; 1,350 tons of standard coal have been saved every year, and carbon dioxide emissions have been reduced by over 3,000 tons every year.

The rainwater flow rate, sewage pipe network coverage in built-up areas, sewage collection rate, sewage treatment rate, reuse rate of reclaimed water in the BDA and safety rate of contaminated plots have all reached 100 percent.

Regarding "sponge city" construction, the BDA has achieved its planning goals in advance and completed a number of special planning tasks for sponge cities. Liangshui River has become a national "model room" for rivers and lakes.

In 2020, the realization rate of sponge cities in the BDA will exceed 35 percent, which is higher than the city's average.
