BDA's industrial output value for first eight months increases by 30 percent
Recently, the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) announced economic development data from January to August 2021.
The total output value of industries above a designated size reached 371.34 billion yuan ($58 billion), a year-on-year increase of 31.9 percent.
The output value of the high-tech industry increased by more than 90 percent and the output value of the biotechnology and health industry increased by more than 230 percent.
This fruitful result is attributed to a new development pattern in the BDA, which integrates the construction of an international science and technology innovation center, the construction of the "Two Zones", the digital economy, supply-side structural reform and the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.
The BDA has, for the first time, formulated a list of 100 key projects and continued to increase high-quality investment.
Data shows that from January to August this year, investment in fixed assets in the BDA increased by 11.9 percent year-on-year.
Fifty-four projects, including the IC Equipment Material Industrial Park series projects, the Xinchuang Park series projects, and the Hengrui North Project, have been signed and settled with a total investment of 87.8 billion yuan.
In addition, the BDA took the lead in building a biomedical industry full-link service system known as the "concept proof platform-public technical service platform-proofing center-pilot base".
The Skyland·Industry Plaza project, which started at the end of May, will build a green and intelligent industrial park focusing on medical equipment and smart manufacturing.
The North China headquarters of AstraZeneca, a world-renowned biopharmaceutical company, will be completed, and Sanofi's Beijing insulin production expansion project will be set up here.
Thanks to the optimization and upgrading of the industrial system, the output value of the bioengineering and pharmaceutical industries in the BDA reached 107.9 billion yuan from January to August, a year-on-year increase of 237 percent.
