Why has the 2021 World 5G Convention, a world-class conference in the 5G field, been held consecutively in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA)?

As early as 2019, the BDA has jointly promoted the construction of 5G infrastructure with communication operators such as China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom and China Tower.

It also spurred the industrial application of 5G together with JD, BOE, Xloong and other leading enterprises, and established Beijing E-Town Smart City Collaborative Innovation Research Institute.

By the end of this April, a total of 1,374 5G base stations were built and opened in the 60- square-kilometer space of the BDA, with a base station density of 22.9 per square kilometer. Meanwhile, a total of 2,236 5G base stations were built and opened in the 225-square-kilometer space of Beijing E-Town, with a base station density of 9.05 per square kilometers, far ahead of Beijing's 5G base station construction density. 

As a result, the industrial application of 5G networks has been accelerated. The three major operators have reached hundreds of 5G service agreements with many industrial companies in the area, and unmanned factories for Xiaomi and Yizhuang Water have been born.

Further, the BDA has gathered more than 100 upstream, midstream and downstream companies in the 5G industry chain, including chip design companies, communication device companies, small base station R&D companies, chip manufacturing companies, semiconductor materials companies, 5G testing and certification agencies, and private network operating companies.

In the 5G R&D link, the BDA has a 5G cloud innovation center, which is promoting the application of 5G in the industrial Internet, the internet of vehicles and smart cities

Currently, the BDA has gathered dozens of upstream and downstream companies in the 5G industry chain, and its 5G industry ecosystem has begun taking shape.
