The Chinese capital's Zhongguancun Science City, Huairou Science City, Future Science Park and Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area will enter a new stage of coordinated development via a new comprehensive cooperation mechanism that was created recently, said local officials.

In late June, Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, also known as Beijing ETown, signed cooperation agreements with Huairou Science City in Huairou district and Future Science Park in Changping district.

The agreements come on the back of a partnership with Zhongguancun Science City in Haidian district last year. The area is collaborating with all three science cities and an all-around cooperation channel has been established, said officials from Beijing ETown.

The channel will better facilitate the integrated development of the "three cities and one area", offering strong support for Beijing's goal of becoming a global scientific and technological innovation center by 2025, officials said.

According to the agreement, Beijing ETown set up a pilot base last year for the industrialization of Zhongguancun's research findings. Six core areas of the base were put into operation in April, with 30 innovation platforms providing various services.

In addition, leading companies from Beijing ETown will join hands with research institutions in Huairou Science City to promote the transformation and application of research results.

Future Science City and Beijing ETown are committed to the principle of "win-win cooperation", and to expanding strategic collaboration in sci-tech innovation, officials said.

"Beijing ETown will continue to improve its services and optimize the cooperation mechanism with the three science cities in a bid to scale up the conversion of scientific achievements and bring more financial benefits," a local official said.

Beijing ETown is poised to build itself into a world-class functional zone for the transformation of scientific and technological results, the official added.

Since 2017, enterprises and research institutions from the three science cities have launched more than 500 projects for achievements' transformation in Beijing ETown. The number of the transformation projects is expected to exceed 200 this year, local officials said.
