Certified driving of unmanned delivery cars
Beijing's high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone awarded leading unmanned delivery car companies with vehicle codes and corresponding road rights for unmanned distribution vehicles at the 8th International Intelligent Connected Vehicle Technology Annual Conference on May 25.
This means another innovative breakthrough in the new product management policy of the field of autonomous driving in China.
Unmanned delivery vehicles are an important application of autonomous driving technology in the logistics field, and are of great significance for promoting the transformation and development of the express logistics industry from labor-intensive to technology-intensive.
The United States, Japan and other places have successively introduced innovative regulatory measures for unmanned delivery vehicles, providing convenience for unmanned driving companies to test the latest cars on the road.
This April, based on the high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone, Beijing established the country's first intelligent networked vehicle policy pilot zone, and introduced implementation rules for the management of unmanned delivery vehicles.
The policy pilot zone takes the issuance of vehicle codes as the core for targeted testing and verification, and grants corresponding road rights of way to new products that pass the test, solving the problem that unmanned delivery vehicles cannot drive on the road due to current laws and regulations.
At the conference, the following five innovations were highlighted:
New transportation rules for new products.
Standardization of vehicles on the road.
Evolving business models.
Improved safety supervision models.
Exploration of new product insurance models.
Also at the conference JD.com, Meituan, and Neolix became the first three companies in China to obtain vehicle codes of unmanned distribution vehicles, taking the lead in realizing certified driving of unmanned delivery cars.
The release of the unmanned delivery vehicle management policy in zone will fill the double gaps in the supervision and standards of such new products.
