BDA catches media's attention

More than 40 journalists from 27 mainstream media at home and abroad gathered in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) on April 26.

Bloomberg, Associated Press, Tokyo Shimbun, Asahi Shimbun, Korea Asian Economics, Reuters, Agence France-Presse, NBC, Russian Broadcasting and Television Corporation, Hong Kong Radio and Television, China Net, Beijing Daily, and others were represented.

They visited the BDA Government Affairs Service Center, SMC (China) and Baidu Apollo Technology Co., Ltd.

Guided by the BDA's Ministry of Publicity and Culture, the media group first came to the International Talent Service Hall at the Government Affairs Service Center. 

Staff members introduced and displayed the one-stop service hall, which provides comprehensive consultations, residence permits and financial services.

The "two zones" construction service window that can offer taxation, intellectual property services and consultation for foreign-funded enterprises, acceptance feedback and other diversified foreign-related services was also introduced.

At the service window of the first one-stop service hall in Beijing that realizes "one-window acceptance and simultaneous evidence collection" for foreigners' work permits and residence permits, domestic and foreign media recorded the process of a foreigner's residence permit application.

To date, the total number of talents in the BDA exceeds 299,000, and includes more than 9,000 high-level talents and over 4,000 overseas scholars.

Afterwards, the media team visited SMC's R&D center in the BDA. 

SMC was among the first foreign-funded enterprises to enter the BDA for investment and development, and by the end of 2020 the headquarters of SMC (China) was also officially settled in the BDA.

"This is SMC's first overseas regional headquarters. The BDA has become a policy high ground for Beijing and even China, with a first-class business environment and an industrial development ecology," said Ma Qinghai, general manager of SMC Investment Management Co., Ltd.

At the last stop, the media team came to the Baidu Apollo Autonomous Driving Base in BDA.

It's the world's largest automated driving and vehicle-road collaborative application test base.

"I found that the BDA is highly professional in almost all fields. Among them, Baidu's self-driving cars have impressed me a lot," mentioned Lee Jae-ho, a journalist from the South Korean media "Asian Economy". He didn't hesitate to add, "I will come here again one day."
