Beijing E-Town Zero Carbon Industry Innovation Association to be established

Updated: 2021-04-28

The first preparatory meeting of the Beijing E-Town Zero Carbon Industry Innovation Association initiated by the Beijing Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Promotion Association in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) and 11 BDA companies participating in carbon peak and carbon neutralization was held on April 21.

Industrial carbon emissions in the BDA account for the majority of the district's total.

Therefore, the association will mainly provide guidance on the carbon emission behavior of enterprises, provide intellectual guarantees and technical support for business authorities, formulate industrial plans for the industry, and offer a communication platform.

The BDA has adhered to green development in recent years.

China's first "carbon neutral" smart park was listed in the Goldwind Science Park this January.

Last year, the total electricity consumption of the Goldwind Park was 15.73 million kWh, of which Goldwind's own wind turbines and photovoltaic equipment generated 4.82 million kWh.

With the addition of self-generated green electricity, the park's total renewable energy power generation ratio reaches nearly 50 percent.

Currently relying on energy-saving technologies and energy-efficiency platforms, the park has saved 600,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually and reduced total carbon emissions by 4.26 million kilograms.

At the end of 2019, JD Logistics announced that it had joined the "Scientific Carbon Target" initiative, becoming the first domestic logistics company to commit to setting a scientific carbon target.

JD Logistics' carbon reduction target for 2030 was determined in November 2020: reducing total carbon emissions by 50 percent compared with those of 2019.

BOE, SMIC, Beijing Benz, State Power Investment, E-Town Real Estate, Kaituo Heating and other BDA companies have also contributed to carbon peaking and carbon neutralization.

The BDA will use the association's establishment to continue to develop carbon peaking controls.
