Huangshan has accelerated the growth of six high-end service industry clusters in the current year, as part of the broader push to build a word-class leisure and wellness tourism destination.
The pace of development is being picked up in the leisure tourism, healthcare and wellness, cultural services, creative economy, sporting events and exhibitions economy.
In leisure tourism, the Yixian International Rural Tourism Resort was selected as a national-level resort. On top of that, eight of the global top 10 high-end hotel groups now have operations in the city and 59 local B&Bs were awarded Wanmei Gold-Standard B&B status. Moreover, 13 sites were recognized as provincial-level educational tourism demonstration sites.
For healthcare and wellness, Huangshan has been ranked among China's Top 20 Wellness Cities for three consecutive years and it has got approval to be a Traditional Chinese Medicine Innovation Trial Zone. The city also launched a Xin’an Qihuang Night TCM cultural night market, hosting 41 events to date.
In terms of cultural services and the creative economy, Huangshan issued a three-year plan for producing and supporting mini series. It also partnered this year with the leading online literature and intellectual property incubation platform China Literature to hold the 2024 Yuewen Writing Conference and to establish the Huangshan Yuewen Academy.
In sporting events and exhibition economy, Huangshan hosted over 100 large-scale events this year, including the Huangshan Marathon and the China Drone Racing League.
Major conferences were also held – such as the 2024 RCEP Local Governments and Friendship Cities Cooperation (Huangshan) Forum – reinforcing the concept that's been called "China's Huangshan, World's Huangshan".
