Huangshan unveils new summer attractions with water and nighttime adventures

Huangshan's tourism market continues to surge this summer, with a notable rise in water-based activities. In July 2024, the city welcomed 8.83 million visitors, a 9.71 percent increase year-over-year, and achieved a tourism revenue of 8.02 billion yuan ($104.25 million), up by 9.26 percent.

This summer, Huangshan has introduced a diverse range of water-themed attractions, including river rafting, water parks, and thrilling waterfall adventures. Notably, Meixi Township in the northwest of Yixian has launched its second annual Water and Wellness Cultural Festival. The festival features activities such as waterfall rappelling, river tracing, bamboo raft drifting, water photography, and evening bonfires, drawing enthusiastic visitors.

Highlights include the Meixi Water Park, where visitors enjoy kayaking and bamboo raft experiences, and the local cuisine at the Kejia S Bay Outdoor Sports Base. The influx of tourists has also boosted local industries, including hospitality and dining, contributing to rural revitalization.

As night falls, Huangshan transforms with vibrant new attractions. Qiuyun Mountain's night events, such as the "Fire Lantern Dance" and other traditional performances, have attracted nearly one million visitors, keeping accommodation rates high. Traditional sites like Tunxi River Street and Xixi South Village now feature dynamic night shows, blending historical charm with modern entertainment.

Huangshan's innovative approaches to both daytime water activities and nighttime experiences are setting new trends in tourism, catering to diverse interests and local economy.
