SND's tourist attractions receive nearly 850,000 visitors during holiday

The main tourist attractions and entertainment blocks in Suzhou New District, Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, welcomed nearly 850,000 people during the five-day May Day holiday, which ended on May 3.

The figure represents a 37 percent increase over the number for the same period in 2021.

Statistics from the Suzhou municipal bureau of culture, broadcasting, and tourism show that tourists from outside Jiangsu accounted for more than 40 percent of the total visitors to Suzhou this year.

During the May Day holiday, the number of tourists from other provinces increased significantly with those from Shanghai and Zhejiang province being the largest number.

Suzhou Amusement Land Forest World, which offered the first metaverse-themed immersive nighttime tour in Suzhou, received 128,000 visitors during the holiday, an increase of 106 percent from the number for the same period in 2021.

The Baimajian Longchi Scenic Resort attracted 37,600 tourists during the holiday with a kite art festival and kite-themed decorations while Dayang Mountain National Forest Park staged firework shows and electronic music parties, attracting 83,000 visitors, 476 percent more than in 2021.

The catering and entertainment block in Shishan subdistrict received nearly 400,000 tourists while Shushan village attracted 37,500 visitors with scenic landscapes.
