Suzhou University of Science and Technology in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, is a higher learning institution jointly funded by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Jiangsu Provincial Government.
The school was established through the merger of the Suzhou Urban Construction and Environmental Protection Institute and Suzhou Railway Normal University in September 2001.
It was selected for the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program of the Ministry of Education, National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program for College Students, National Cultural Quality Education Base for College Students, and the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Practice Base for College students.
The university now has three campuses, namely Shihu, Jiangfeng and Tianping, with a total construction area of 2,300 mu (153.3 hectares).
It currently offers 67 undergraduate programs and 31 postgraduate programs. There are more than 1300 full-time teachers at the school, among which more than 600 have senior professional and technical expertise. There are nearly 18,000 undergraduates, 2,900 postgraduates, and over 100 international master's students.
The university has established cooperative ties with nearly 80 colleges and research institutions in more than 20 countries and regions. Since 1993, the school has undertaken foreign human resources training courses organized by the Ministry of Commerce for over 2,000 officials and technicians in the fields of environmental protection, energy and logistics from more than 120 countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and developing countries.
