Suzhou Chinese Orchestra Concert Hall, the permanent residence and supporting project of the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra, opened to the public on Sept 25, 2019 after two years of construction.
Located in the Science and Technology Town of Suzhou New District, the 18,000-square-meter orchestra hall is adjacent to Xiaolong Mountain on the east side of Buqing Road and the south side of Rainbow Bridge.
Designed by Toyota Yasuhisa, the music hall features a simple but elegant style, which has its external façade decorated by floor-to-ceiling windows and resembles the distinctive shape of accordions.
Toyota Yasuhisa is a world-renowned acoustic architect which has presented vocal music fans with many creative works around the world, such as the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, St. Petersburg Malinsky Concert Hall, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall, and Suzhou Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall.
The whole project of Suzhou Chinese Orchestra Concert Hall includes two parts: the concert hall and the supporting talent apartment. The concert hall is equipped with the most cutting-edge acoustic construction and vibration proofing technique. The supporting talent apartment is adjacent to the concert hall, which mainly meets the rehearsal, accommodation and catering needs of the orchestra musicians.
