Suzhou New District (SND) in East China's Jiangsu province organized a concert on Dec 9 at the newly-built Suzhou Chinese Orchestra Music Hall, according to local media reports.
More than 1,700 representatives from major Japanese, European, and American companies in the district were invited to attend the concert.
The concert was meant as an expression of gratitude by the local government for foreign companies, which have made significant contributions to local economic development.
In 2019, the import and export value in SND totaled $42 billion, and its actual use of foreign investment stood at $600 million, ranking among the top three districts in Suzhou in both cases, said Wu Xinming, head of SND, in his address.
Under the direction of Chinese conductor Pang Kapang, the concert kicked off with National Customs, performed by more than 90 young artists from the local Suzhou Chinese Orchestra.
They performed works including Jasmine Flower, A Night of Flowers and Moonlight by the Autumn River, Lyric Variation, and the Moon over a Fountain.
The concert climaxed with a performance of Macao Capriccio, which uses various melodies meant to represent the harmony seen in Macao since China regained sovereignty over the region in 1999.
