Suzhou Chinese Orchestra put on last performance for its European tour at Zaryadye Concert Hall in Moscow, Russia on Feb 10 to celebrate the Spring Festival, following two other performances in Poland and Germany.
The concert also marked the beginning of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia.
Under the baton of Chinese conductor Pang Kapang, the orchestra performed classic works such as Jasmine Flower, the Butterfly Dream, Moon Reflected in the Er Quan, Lyric Variation, and Mocau Cappricio, which helped Russian audiences learn more about traditional Chinese culture.
As each work evoked roars of applause, the whole performance lasted for two hours and 40 minutes, the longest among the orchestra's 13 performances during this European tour.
Li Hui, Chinese ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Russia, appreciated the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra delivering the happiness of Chinese people during the Spring Festival through the use of traditional Chinese musical instruments.
During the 13 performances in nine different European countries, the Suzhou musicians also introduced traditional Chinese musical instruments to local spectators and showed these spectators how to play them.
