Zhu Changyao, a renowned erhu performer and composer, receives a special allowance from China's State Council, a reward for his outstanding talents.
His erhu concerto Mooring at Night by Maple Bridge and his erhu solo Spring Scenery in Jiangnan won the third National Music Works Award in 1983. His many works have been recorded on more than 10 albums released in China and abroad.
Zhu has been warmly received at concerts in many countries, including the United States, Italy, Switzerland, Japan and Singapore. His skills have won him a reputation as "a world-class string master" and "a human treasure".
