Revised according to The Journal of National Committee for the Examination for the Land and Sea Maps and published by the China Geography Society, Map of Islands in the South China Sea in the Republic of China marked a total of 132 islands, reefs, shoals and cays in Nanhai Zhudao, with Zengmu Beach in the southernmost tip.
Prepared by Su Jia-rong (1895-1946) and published by Shanghai Rixin Geography Society, the map marked the territory and administration of the Republic of China during the Second World War.
In Location Map for the South China Sea Islands attached to the Administrative Division Map of the Republic of China released in February 1948, the Department of Domestic Territorial Affairs, Ministry of the Interior adopted new names for all the islands, and drew a broken curve composed of 11 lines in the South China Sea.
Prepared by Jin Lihuang and Jin Lihui of Chinese Historical Map Press in 1948, and published by Yaguang Geographic Press and distributed by Greater China Bookstore, the map adopted the new pattern and new names for Nanyang Qundao in Southeast Asia, following the new names released by the Ministry of Interior for Nanhai Zhudao.
