An article on how to improve work on ethnic affairs by the CPC Leadership Group of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission was published on Issue No. 3, 2024, Qiushi Journal. This article stresses the importance of focusing on the main task of forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation in strengthening and improving the Party's ethnic work.

The article states that the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core has made arrangements for ethnic work since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012 and made “forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation” the main focus of our efforts on ethnic affairs, from the overall strategic perspective of national rejuvenation. This major concept has further enriched and developed Marxist ethnic theory and represents a correct path and landmark in our efforts to deal with ethnic affairs.

At the ninth group study session of the Political Bureau of the 20th CPC Central Committee, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered a speech in which he combined our work related to ethnic affairs with concepts of modern Chinese civilization and Chinese modernization. This speech shows that the CPC has gained insights into the new historic bearing of our work on ethnic affairs and contemporary characteristics of ethnic issues, as well as the laws underlying the development of community for the Chinese nation.

Inspired by Xi’s vision, the article also believes that we should continue to focus on the main task of forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation in our work on ethnic affairs.

And it is important to draw on the long history of the Chinese nation and strengthen the development of theories for the Chinese national community.

The article also calls for efforts to develop modern Chinese civilization and foster a sense of belonging for the Chinese nation.

It is crucial to promote extensive communication and interactions among different ethnic groups, and cement the great unity of the Chinese nation to advance Chinese modernization, the article says.

The article stresses the importance of telling well the stories of the Chinese nation and promoting a sense of community for the Chinese nation.

As for how to advance high-quality development of our work on ethnic affairs in the new era, the article highlights the imperative of strengthening the development of theories for the Chinese national community and fostering a sense of belonging for the Chinese nation. It also stresses that we should continue our efforts to promote communication and interactions among different ethnic groups, tell well the stories of the community for the Chinese nation and guard against and mitigate risks of ethnic affairs.
