PHNOM PENH -- One century on, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has led China to lasting peace, stability and tremendous development, said Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen in an exclusive interview with Xinhua recently.
Hun Sen said during his visits to China, he has witnessed its enormous development in all spheres during past decades. "What impresses me the most is that China has achieved success in maintaining its sustainable economic growth, in enhancing the people's livelihoods through job creation and poverty eradication, and in maintaining peace and development for the nation and its people."
Hun Sen, who is also the president of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP), said the CPC has led China as a poor country to become the world's second largest economy.
He noted that under Chinese President Xi Jinping's leadership, China had totally eradicated extreme poverty.
"China has now become an economic, commercial, financial and technological hub, and in production chains, China has played a crucial role in developing economies and technologies in the world," he said.
Sharing his view on China's fight against COVID-19, Hun Sen said the government has not only contained the spread of COVID-19 in China effectively, but also manufactured COVID-19 vaccines successfully, which are very beneficial to the world.
"Under President Xi's leadership, China has enjoyed great development despite obstacles caused by the COVID-19 crisis and other disruptive factors," Hun Sen said. "Moreover, China has played a leading role in promoting international cooperation and in helping other countries fight against COVID-19 and restore their pandemic-affected economies."
Speaking of the relations and cooperation between the CPP and the CPC, Hun Sen said political trust between the two parties is high thanks to the frequent exchange of visits at all levels in past decades.
"I firmly believe that the CPP and the CPC will continue to deepen and strengthen our historic and fraternal friendship based on the principles of mutual respect, mutual trust, equal sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and win-win cooperation for the sake of our two peoples," he said.
