Updated: 2023-03-28

Concrete pouring on the last cast-in-place beam for the ramp connecting the Hengqin Interchange in the Jinhai Avenue Bridge project was completed on March 25, marking great construction progress.

Being the world's first and widest multi-tower cable-stayed bridge with both a highway and railway on the same platform, Jinhai Avenue Bridge will have six traffic lanes going in both directions, and a maximum speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour (62 mph). The bridge will be connected with Hengqin Avenue and West Huandao Road via the Hengqin Interchange, allowing vehicles on Second Hengqin Bridge to have access to the bridge's main line.

In addition, the Jinhai Avenue Bridge project includes construction of the Zizhu Bay Interchange, which will connect the bridge to East Jinhai Road in Jinwan District.

Zhuhai's 2023 Government Work Report put forward that the first phase of Jinhai Avenue Bridge will finish construction this year, and the sections over the Baiteng River and the Zizhu Bay Interchange have started construction on ancillary facilities.

The section over the Baiteng River is expected to begin asphalt laying in the middle of 2023, and the section of the Zizhu Bay Interchange is accelerating its subgrade section construction.

The project will stretch 17.14 km (10.65 miles) from Hongwan to the Zizhu Bay interchanges. The Zizhu Bay Interchange is 6 km (4 miles) away from Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport and is adjacent to Zhuhai College of Science and Technology.

Upon operation, motorists will have another fast channel from Zhuhai airport to the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Xiangzhou District. It is expected that the whole journey over Jinhai Avenue Bridge will be 20 minutes by car.
