Zhuhai concert to celebrate 50 years of China-Netherlands ties
Zhuhai and Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands, will jointly stage an online concert to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Netherlands on May 22.
The concert will be held simultaneously in both cities and livestreamed on media, with the Netherlands Wind Ensemble performing at the Royal Amsterdam Concert Hall and Zhuhai Golden Jazz Big Band performing at the Concert Hall of the Zhuhai Opera House.
The Zhuhai sub-venue will highlight the distinctive cultural arts of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, spanning jazz and Cantonese opera. It will also showcase Zhuhai's charming, friendly, youthful, and romantic city image.

Yan Jihong, general director of the event, said that planning for the concert started earlier this year and rehearsals have been held for the past five months. The Zhuhai performances will consist of strong marine and blues elements, while a jazz interpretation of the Cantonese opera Blooming Flowers & Full Moon will be highlighted.
Notably, Deng Peitong, a 21-year-old blind piano player who has studied piano for a decade, will perform a solo in an original music piece Hearing the Blue, which depicts the beautiful blue marine sceneries of Zhuhai through music.
The concert is hosted by the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government Information Office and Zhuhai Foreign Affairs Office with support from the Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands, Embassy of the Netherlands in China, Consulate General of the Netherlands in Guangzhou, and Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province.
