The Blowfish A3 drone developed by Zhuhai-based unmanned helicopter manufacturer Ziyan UAV, made its debut during the 14th International Aviation & Space Salon MAKS-2019 from Aug 27 through Sept 1.

The drone shown at the Russian air show can carry multiple types of weapons and equipment and features an aerodynamic design so that its weapons can fire from more angles in mid-flight.

The 2-m-long and 0.5-m-wide helicopter is said to carry the latest solutions for the world's small-sized defense drones. Capable of automatically planning routes and moving in formation, the helicopter has AI-based positioning and aiming systems for use in anti-terrorism, border patrol, and special-operation purposes, according to Tang Yiheng of Ziyan UAV.

Ziyan UAV was founded in 2015 at the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan). It showcased four unmanned helicopters at the air show, garnering attention from exhibitors from Russia, the Middle East, as well as Central and West Asia. The booth hosted hundreds of groups of visitors, and the company reached cooperation intentions with several companies.

The air show is a landmark event for the professional community, businesses, government, and aviation enthusiasts. MAKS 2019 was held at Zhukovsky International Airport, the home of the Gromov Flight Research Institute in Zhukovsky.

In 2016, the Zhuhai company's first-generation drone debuted at the 2016 China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition. As of August 2019, the company had four invention patents, 28 utility model patents, seven exterior design patents, and four software copyrights.
