Tangjiawan Beach opens near Zhongshan University
Phase 1 of Tangjiawan Coastal Park became instantly popular when the 1.4-km (.87-mile) beach opened on the first day of the Lunar New Year.
The beach has been restored from the north bank of the Gangwan Avenue Jishan Bridge to the north and east of Sun Yat-sen (Zhongshan) University Zhuhai Campus. The opened section is on Tangjia Bay across from the university. Cars can park near North Lovers Avenue or at the entrance to Jishan Village (鸡山村).
Although it has few facilities yet, further improvements will be made to create an admirable leisure and sightseeing experience on par with Fenghuang (Phoenix) and Xianglu bays. Gree Real Estate, which is responsible for the Tangjiawan Beach Renovation Project, says the beach and coastal ecological restoration were carried out for environmental protection, development and management, and new city development needs.

The coastline of Tangjiawan Beach is about 6 km long. Its recreation belt entails a coastal green area along North Lovers Avenue and an improved waterfront walking trail. Landscapes will complement the nearby Turtle and Snake islands.
Tangjiawan Coastal Park is a key part of the belt and an amalgamation of natural resources, leisure, science education, and sports. The project will take advantage of the city's shoreline renovations and the long-term development plan of Sun Yat-sen University Zhuhai Campus.
Thousands of sunflowers at road intersections now beautify the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone of Tangjiawan. The 133 box substations along Gangwan Avenue have received facelifts as part of the broader beautification effort.
