Jinwan Aviation New Town
Jinwan District will invest nearly 13.4 billion yuan ($2 billion) in 55 projects over the next five years as of 2017 to develop into a new urban center.
So far, more than 3.34 billion yuan ($486 million) has been spent building the West Wing Eco-New Town Jinwan Section, which is a major part of the "new urban center of Zhuhai." It includes Aviation New Town Core Area (C Zone) and B Zone south of Zhuhai Avenue and east of North Airport Road. Development and construction are now in progress with favorable effects.

Nearly 600 million yuan ($87.3 million) was utilized in the C Zone, bringing total investment to 2.24 billion yuan ($326 million). The 16-km main traffic route has been built, forming a high-level transport network in the area.
Aviation New Town's urban functions are growing quickly. Jinshan Park, the city's first "sponge park," opened to the public last December. It takes its cues from New York City's Central Park and follows the Sponge City concept introduced by Chinese president as a way of tackling water waste and flooding. The Aviation New Town Primary School is up to provincial first-class standards and will open in September.
The area's five centers -- public services, civic and industrial services, civic art, international business, and sports -- are being designed or are under construction. The Civic Arts Center was a work of Zaha Hadid, late world-renowned British architect. It is to become a monument featuring her iconic swooping curves and flowing space.
On the other hand, 363 million yuan ($53 million) was spent in the B Zone last year, increasing total investment to 1.1 billion yuan ($160 million). Construction of backbone projects including 20 arterial streets with a length of about 5 km and flood control drainage are under way. The Bayiwei and Second Honghui Road pump stations have been completed, consolidating the area’s bearing capacity foundation.

Jinwan plans to speed up construction this year with an investment of 1.69 billion yuan ($246 million) in 46 projects covering infrastructure, public services, city-industry integration, ecological low carbon, and sponge city.
The C Zone is to invest over 600 million yuan ($87.3 million) this year to accelerate construction of Aviation New Town Phase III municipal roads, Huafa Boutiques Mall, five centers, and Jinhu Avenue renovation. Meanwhile, the B Zone will use over 400 million yuan ($58.2 million) to build 2.4 sq km of infrastructure projects, and Shuanghu Road, Jinhu Avenue, Bixi East Road, and Jincheng Road.
Jinwan will also expand in the south with an investment of nearly 650 million yuan ($94.5 million) to coordinate with construction in the B and C zones. Aiming to comprehensively enhance urban development quality, these projects include accelerating construction of the Shuanghu Road Extension Line, Hubin Road, Chengxiang Road, and No 1 and 2 water gates of Sanzao Bay Dam.
Meanwhile, Jinwan will plan and construct the infrastructure, public service facilities and city-industry integration projects in the Jinwan Section of the West Wing Eco-New Town. This is positioned to be Zhuhai’s latest urban center, with high standards to enhance services of the area.
