Pearl River Estuary Marine Protected Area for the Chinese White Dolphins

In the Lingding Sea water area of the Pearl River Estuary, running through the Wanshan Archipelago is the Protected Area for the Chinese White Dolphins. It covers 460 sq km and includes the largest habitat of Chinese white dolphins. In the Protected Area are over a thousand Chinese white dolphins, which are Category-I State Special Protected Animals. A National Chinese White Dolphin Protection Base has been established on Qi’ao Island on behalf of the much-endangered species.
