A delegation of Russian university leaders visits XJTU to strengthen academic ties and bilateral educational cooperation.

A delegation of presidents and rectors from prominent Russian universities – led by Dmitry Bryukhanov, vice-rector of the State University of Management – visited Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on Sept 21.

The delegation included representatives from the State University of Management, Moscow State University of Psychology and Education, Moscow University for the Humanities, and the Russian State Social University.

Chai Wei, vice-president of XJTU, noted the strong foundation and potential of China-Russia higher education cooperation. As XJTU celebrates its 130th anniversary, the university is building on its traditional strengths in science, engineering, and medicine while growing its humanities and social sciences programs to drive cross-disciplinary innovation.

Pointing to the unique academic strengths of the visiting universities, which complement XJTU's programs, Chai expressed hope that both sides will make the most of platforms like the China-SCO Higher Education Cooperation Center, the SCO University, and the University Alliance of the Silk Road.

Bryukhanov noted that the ongoing "China-Russia Year of Education" provides a wonderful opportunity to strengthen academic cooperation. He expressed hope that the visit will deepen mutual understanding and pave the way for future partnerships.

Afterward, members of the delegation shared their universities' histories and standout programs spanning management, economics, psychology, education, social work and governance, the humanities, and media.

During the visit, XJTU signed a memorandum of understanding and a letter of intent for cooperation with the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education and the Russian State Social University, respectively.

The visit deepened mutual understanding between XJTU and its Russian counterparts, laying a strong foundation for expanding collaboration and setting up a regular framework for communication.
