XJTU team resolves hydrogen storage and transportation issues
The Qinchuangyuan Technology Achievement Industrialization and New Hydrogen Storage Materials and Hydrogen Power Supply Product Launch Conference, hosted by Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and the Development and Construction Administrative Committee of Xixian New Area, was recently held.
In 2012, XJTU established the Center of Nanomaterials for Renewable Energy, focusing on innovations in materials for energy storage and energy conversion. Under the leadership of professors Cheng Yonghong and Zhang Jinying, the center successfully developed composite hydrogen storage materials that can be held in the hand.
These materials can meet the demand for large-scale hydrogen storage and transportation and have a wide range of applications in industrial hydrogen production, power storage, mobile applications, and other areas, providing new solutions for hydrogen storage, transportation, and utilization.
Professor Cheng established Xi'an 1908 New Energy Technology Co, enabling technology achievements to move from the laboratory to the production line. In July, the company completed the construction and commissioning of two production lines for sodium-calcium-based and aluminum-sodium-based composite hydrogen storage materials with a daily production capacity in the hundreds of kilograms, laying a solid foundation for future large-scale applications.
During the conference, Professor Cheng introduced how the technology was created and the future direction of industrial development. At the same time, he announced a series of achievements, including "three types of hydrogen power sources based on solid-state hydrogen storage materials," and "a hydrogen-hybrid sightseeing vehicle."
