The 27th International Symposium on Metastable, Amorphous, and Nanostructured Materials (ISMANAM 27) and the 17th International Conference on Rapidly Quenched and Metastable Materials were jointly held in Warsaw, Poland recently.

Professor Ding Jun from the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) was honored with the ISMANAM Young Scientist Award. This award is typically conferred upon young scholars under the age of 35 who have made significant contributions in their respective field and demonstrates great potential.

During the conference, he gave a presentation titled "Bridging the Gap Between Computational and Experimental Study of Atomic-Level Structure in Metallic Glasses".

Professor Ding obtained his Bachelor's degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2010, completed his Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University in the United States in 2014, and received the Acta Student Award in 2015.

He was selected for the national-level young talent program as well as XJTU's young elite talent program in 2019. Since November 2019, he has been serving as a faculty member of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at XJTU.

Professor Ding's main research interests encompass high-performance alloy materials, including amorphous alloys and high-entropy alloys, materials mechanics, multiscale simulations and machine learning.

He has authored more than 40 research papers, including significant publications in journals such as Nature Materials, PNAS, Nature Communications, and Acta Materialia, as a lead author or corresponding author.
