This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR), initiated by Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), has become a significant platform for cultural exchanges and talent cultivation among countries involved in BRI.

UASR is a non-governmental, open, and international higher education cooperation platform formed by universities from around the world. In the eight years since its establishment, the alliance has provided a platform for talent development in fields such as artificial intelligence, chemical engineering, and law for Central Asian countries. To date, over 150 universities from 37 countries and regions have joined the alliance.

The New Silk Road Law Schools Alliance, established in December 2015, is one of UASR's sub-alliances. To date, it has 31 member law schools from 20 countries and regions.

It aims to provide a platform for member institutions to engage in bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the fields of legal education and research. Since its establishment, there have been continuous advancements in faculty and student exchanges, research collaborations, and student paper competitions.

In 2016, XJTU launched the "Chinese Law and International Business Law" Master of Laws program, which is open to students from countries involved in BRI. So far, the program has successfully trained over 100 legal professionals.

Liu Wenfeng, director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange at XJTU, said that XJTU aims to leverage UASR to share its experience in integrating industry and education with more universities. This year, XJTU is projected to establish an industry-education alliance within the framework of UASR to explore innovative pathways for international industry-education integration.
