XJTU Prof Wang Wenbing wins 2023 ACES-China Achievement Award

Recently, at the ACES-China 2023 Conference, Professor Wang Wenbing from Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) was granted the Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to Transient Electromagnetic Theory, Computational Methods and Applications.

Founded in 1985, the Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES) is one of the world's largest and most influential professional societies in the field of computational electromagnetics.

Prof Wang, a native of Changzhou city in Jiangsu province, was born in May 1929. He graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tongji University in Shanghai in 1952 and subsequently taught at Jiao Tong University, since renamed Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

In 1956, he relocated along with Jiao Tong University from Shanghai to Xi'an, and held various positions at XJTU, including lecturer, associate professor, and professor.

He is one of the founders and academic leaders in the field of electromagnetic fields and microwave technology at XJTU, making significant contributions to the development of this discipline at XJTU and in China.

Over the years, he has supervised more than 40 master's and doctoral students and has published over a hundred academic papers in domestic and international journals, making key contributions to the advancement of research in transient electromagnetic fields and related areas in China.

The journals include "IEEE Trans. on AP," "IEEE Trans. on EMC," "IEEE Trans. on GRS," the "Chinese Journal of Radio Science" and the "Journal of Microwaves."
