On May 22, to commemorate the 8th anniversary of the University Alliance of the Silk Road's establishment, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) convened a working meeting to invigorate the alliance's activities. Vice-President Xi Guang and Assistant to the President Shan Wenhua attended the occasion, lending their support to the event.

During the meeting, Xi highlighted the immense significance XJTU places on the construction and growth of the University Alliance of the Silk Road. The university's standing committee outlined several crucial requirements:

Firstly, to have a heightened political awareness, firmly uphold the grand vision of serving the nation and to align with national strategies.

Secondly, to have an open-minded approach, foster innovative thinking, and prioritize students and scholars as the core driving force. This entails fully harnessing the potential of various disciplines to engage in cooperative efforts aligned with the Belt and Road Initiative.

Thirdly, to actively respond to national and regional strategies and policies for openness, and to effectively leverage the university's resources for international exchanges and collaborations. Deepening the construction of the University Alliance of the Silk Road and establishing a prominent brand for educational openness to the world are paramount.

Shan introduced the "University Alliance of the Silk Road Upgrading Action" as part of XJTU's comprehensive global development plan. Throughout the meeting, participating institutions shared suggestions and recommendations on innovative measures to foster talent cultivation within the framework of the alliance. Moreover, they emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination mechanisms between the Secretariat and various sub-alliances within the university, while proposing an array of exciting activities for 2023.
