Lou Yanshan, a professor of the Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) School of Mechanical Engineering, received the International Journal of Plasticity Young Researcher Award for his contributions to the fields of plasticity, damage and fracture.

Over the years, Lou has carried out experimental testing, constitutive model construction, finite element UMAT secondary development and its application in plastic forming, basic and applied research in the fields of springback prediction and compensation, impact energy absorption, impact, lightweight, topology optimization, and multi-scale simulation.

He is also the laureate of the IACM O.C. Zienkiewicz Award, an honor named after Professor Zienkiewicz, a pioneer in computational mechanics.

The IJP is the world's top journal on plastic deformation, and the damage and fracture behavior of isotropic and anisotropic solids. The award, established in 2006, has honored 18 experts in metal plasticity research.
