A meeting between Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and Leiden University was held via video link on April 26.

XJTU President Wang Shuguo, Vice Presidents Xi Guang and Lyu Yi, Guan Xiaohong, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Annetje Ottow, President of Leiden University, Jasper Knoester, Dean of the Faculty of Science at Leiden University, and Pancras C.W. Hogendoorn, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors and Dean of the Leiden University Medical Center, attended the meeting.

Ottow said that Leiden University attaches great importance to cooperation with Xi'an Jiaotong University, and hopes that the two universities will work together to carry it out in a practical way and continue to deepen it.

Wang said iHarbour, an innovation platform of Xi’an Jiaotong University, has established more than 100 cutting-edge cross-research platforms, bringing together a large number of internationally renowned experts and scholars. He said Leiden University researchers are welcome to conduct scientific research and transfer and transform their achievements through the platform. 

Wang said he hopes the two universities will take this meeting as an opportunity to further deepen exchanges between teachers and students and to add to interdisciplinary international cooperation.

Leiden University is one of the important strategic partners of Xi'an Jiaotong University. 

Since 2017, the two sides have signed 14 cooperation agreements and set up "Campus Day" at each university to promote cooperation in talent training, scientific research, and teacher-student exchanges.
