Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) holds the 7th Silk Road International Autumn Symposium for Distinguished Young Scholars on Dec 8.

Top-notch scholars from 20 countries and regions gathered online at the 7th Silk Road International Autumn Symposium for Distinguished Young Scholars held on Dec 8.

"Xi'an Jiaotong University aims to build itself into a world-class university with Chinese characteristics in the new era. As China comes to the center of the world stage, we look forward to realizing the Chinese dream of great rejuvenation. Catalyzed by the fourth industrial revolution and the new generation of industrial changes, China's higher education will also move forward," said Rong Mingzhe, vice-president of XJTU.

Since its establishment, XJTU has made outstanding contributions in cultivating talents, promoting scientific and technological progress, serving social development, realizing cultural innovation and promoting international exchanges and cooperation.

At present, the university is focusing on its goal of "double first-class construction", which means to develop itself into a world-class university with world-class disciplines. It is building iHarbour, exploring cross-discipline integration and working to resolve technology bottlenecks.

The university looks forward to working with outstanding young scholars around the world to undertake major scientific research tasks, meet national needs and produce scientific research results.

Initiated by XJTU in 2015, the symposium is an exchange event for the career development of outstanding young scholars from all over the world. The symposium has been held for six consecutive sessions, with the attendance of some 1,700 outstanding young scholars from over 30 countries and regions. It has built a platform for young scholars to gain an in-depth understanding of the university and Shaanxi province.
