XJTU signs cooperation agreement with largest university in Greece

Sponsored by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, a launch event for the Advisory Committee for Greek-Chinese Cooperation in Higher Education was held on Oct 21. 

Vice-President of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) Xi Guang, as the representative of Chinese universities, shared the cooperation experience between XJTU and Greek universities at the meeting and signed a cooperation agreement with Nikolaos G. Papaioannou, rector of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the largest university in Greece.

At the meeting, Xi gave a report titled "Developing cooperation in higher education, Promoting mutual learning between eastern and western civilizations".

He reviewed the cooperation between XJTU and Greek universities in personnel training, scientific research, cultural exchanges and the cooperation and integration of industry, education, research and application, and put forward suggestions for cooperation in higher education between China and Greece.

He said China and Greece both have centuries-old culture and history, and they have time-honored friendship and constant communication. Under the strong support of the CEAIE and the Greek embassy in Beijing, XJTU has increasingly deepened its cooperation with Greek universities. 

"In the future, XJTU will take the construction of iHarbour as an opportunity to comprehensively promote international communication and make new contributions to the higher education cooperation between China and Greece," Xi said.

Liu Limin, president of the CEAIE, Niki Keramues, Minister of the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs of the Hellenic Republic and Georgious Iliopoulos, ambassador of Greece to China, attended the event.
