The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has issued a notice for setting up a hierarchical system in establishing national medical centers.  

Interested parties will be classified into three levels based on their basic conditions and work progress. They will be endowed with different work priorities and receive support on the construction of national medical centers accordingly.

The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) was shortlisted for the first institutions to be classified according to this notice.

The hospital adheres to the spirit of inclusiveness and strives to build a coordinated system that integrates the development of medicine, education, research, industry and politics.

It has mobilized its resources to attract outstanding research teams and cooperated with research institutes to rally support from enterprises in talent training, achievement transformation and financial support.

The hospital has promoted the construction of regional medical centers and signed a cooperative agreement with the government of Qinghai province. It has also set up an innovative medicine and industry system, took the lead in establishing a strategic alliance in Shaanxi province to develop industrial technology in the sector, and provided support for the construction of national medical centers, as well as the high-quality growth of the health industry.

The NDRC will work closely with the National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine to help institutions with their construction planning, conduct project reviews and include eligible parties in the construction of national medical centers.
