Delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland visits XJTU

A delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, including Vice Head of the Embassy Rodoslaw Flisiuk, Director of the Science and Education Office Maria Wejs-Domzalska, and member of the Economic Office Mariusz Orbach visited Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on May 20.

Vice President Xi Guang welcomed the guests at iHarbour on behalf of the university. Representatives of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, the School of Foreign Studies, the School of Law and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University (Xibei Hospital) attended, as did the hospital’s Polish professor Malgorzata Garstka.

Xi briefed the delegation on the history of XJTU and the status of its subject development, as well as its cooperation and exchanges with Polish universities. He said that Xi'an Jiaotong University is a comprehensive research university with an excellent reputation in China’s higher education circles.

In recent years, the school has taken fruitful steps such as establishing the iHarbour, promoting the integration of production, teaching and research, and carrying out comprehensive international cooperation and exchanges.

In the future, XJTU will establish a School of Emerging Technologies and a School of Modern Industry as well as the Silk Road International Institute to form an international joint research and development center and systematically promote the transformation of achievements and interdisciplinary and collaborative education.

Xi added that talents from Poland and all over the world are welcomed to come to the school to start a business.

According to Flisiuk, Poland and China have established a strategic partnership. With the signing of the agreement on mutual recognition of diplomas between the two countries, the scale of personnel exchanges between universities has continued to expand.

Three Polish universities, including the Gdańsk University of Technology, have joined the Silk Road University Alliance. Warsaw University of Technology and other universities have also cooperated with XJTU to carry out various student exchange programs.

Flisiuk expressed his expectation that the cooperation and exchanges between Polish universities and XJTU will continue to deepen in the future.

The two sides also conducted exchanges and discussions on talent training, scientific research, and teacher exchanges, and both said that through joint efforts, cooperation and exchanges in higher education will achieve new development in the post-epidemic era.

During the visit, the delegation visited the roof garden of the Hanying Building, the digital exhibition hall of iHarbour, the Language, Culture and International Exchange Research Center of the School of Foreign Studies, and the “Moot Court” of the School of Law.
