The 2021 Best Chinese Universities Ranking (BCUR), released by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy on April 26, has ranked Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) in the top 10 among all 582 universities listed, one place up from last year.

ShanghaiRanking spoke highly of XJTU, praising it as “always adhering to the position of ‘taking root in the west, serving the country and becoming a world-class university’”.

Rooted in the west for 65 years, XJTU has written and practiced the spirit of westward relocation, which is based on the principles of “having the big picture in mind, selfless dedication, carrying forward tradition and hard work”.

In recent years, XJTU has achieved remarkable results in the cultivation of talents, scientific research, service to society, international exchange and cooperation, as well as reform and innovation of mechanisms and institutions.

The university has taken the initiative in actively seeking changes by building the iHarbour with high quality, implementing the “6352” project, exploring a new model of “integration of two chains” between the innovation chain and the industrial chain, and promoting deep integration of the university and society.

Since its first release in 2015, the ShanghaiRanking’s “Best Chinese University Ranking” has won widespread attention and recognition both inside and outside the higher education sector for its expertise, objectivity and transparency. It has become a leading brand of Chinese university rankings with significant social influence and authoritative reference value.
