XJTU attends video conference for founding anniversary of ASRTU

A conference is held on March 29 via video link to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities. Xi Guang, Vice President of Xi'an Jiaotong University, attends and addresses the online gathering.

Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), the 6th rotating president of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU) on the Chinese side, attended a conference held via video link on March 29 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of the ASRTU.

Wang Shuguo, President of XJTU, extended warm congratulations and sincere wishes to the ASRTU on its 10th founding anniversary on behalf of  XJTU and the University Alliance of the Silk Road in a pre-made video. He said that universities from China and other countries should further strengthen their cooperation and build more international platforms on education to create opportunities for young students to deepen mutual understanding, promote friendship and work together in the building of a better future for mankind with a broader global vision, since the fourth industrial revolution has brought great changes to the world.

In his address at the gathering, Xi Guang, Vice President of XJTU, emphasized that the university will work closely with all other universities associated with the ASRTU to create a brighter future for the non-governmental education organization and contribute unique efforts to personnel training and scientific & technological innovation under the banner of the ASRTU.

The online event drew the attendance of representatives from the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges at China's Ministry of Education, the Department of International Cooperation at Russia's Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province, the Harbin Institute of Technology, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, North-Eastern Federal University, and the University of the Arctic, a cooperative network of universities, research centers and other organizations from arctic countries that are committed to the development of higher education and research in and about the North.

The ASRTU is a voluntary non-governmental profit organization composed of prestigious engineering universities from China and Russia. It has opened a new chapter and set up a fresh model for Chinese universities to conduct cooperation and exchanges with their Russian counterparts.

So far, there are 68 prestigious universities, comprised of 54 official members and 14 observers from the two countries in the association.
