Xi'an Jiaotong University and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. established a supercomputing technology research center - which doubles as a storage technology joint innovation center - at the Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbour in Xi'an on March 8. 

The university, as a leader in the construction of school-level supercomputing platforms, has accumulated rich experience in supercomputing applications. 

Huawei has been conducting long-term strategic investment in the data storage industry, and has accumulated extensive technical expertise in this area.

By building the world's leading supercomputing storage technology innovation center, the two parties are striving to tackle key problems in the supercomputing storage field, promote the transformation of major innovative achievements, and cultivate supercomputing talents.

According to the agreement, the two will strengthen technological cooperation in terms of clients, DPU BurstBuffer, heterogeneous computing power scheduling and offloading, based on the major technical requirements of the 14th Five-year Plan (2021-25).

With a focus on international frontier research, independent innovation, application of technological results, major national strategies and economic and social development, the center will work hard to create leading solutions with core competitiveness in terms of client-focused performance and the development of supercomputer storage systems, throughout three years of joint innovation.
