Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) took the second spot with 195 awards and a total score of 99.4 points in the 2020 China's National University Disciplines Competition List.

The announcement was released by a professional working group titled "Research on University Competition Evaluation and Management system" in the China Association of Higher Education (CAHE) on March 22.

Meanwhile, XJTU ranked third with 554 awards and a total score of 97.25 points in the 2016-2020 China's National University Disciplines Competition List, up three places from the previous period. In addition, it was ranked seventh in a newly-set list of five-round general rankings in accordance with similar criteria.

The selection has been conducted annually since 2017. It is the first domestic list honoring talent development with an emphasis on innovation and performance assessment of academic disciplines among universities and colleges.
