The award ceremony for the 2020 Outstanding Teaching Award was held at South China University of Technologyon the morning of November 20, 2020. Zheng Nanning,CAE member and XJTU professor, won the Award.

Experts of the EvaluationCommittee unanimouslyagreed that Professor Zheng Nanning established China'searliest artificial intelligence research institution to nurturehigh-leveltalentsand meetnational strategic requirements. He prioritized academicteaching and moral education, ledthe launch of the PilotClassfor Top Artificial Intelligence Talents, and served as the chief editor to finalize Knowledge Systemsand Curriculum Settingsfor Undergraduate Programs of Artificial Intelligence,a book setting an exemplary model for artificial intelligence education. He advanced the Four Steps of Education: "2+4+X", "collegesystem", "engineering workshop", and "sportsmanship", making him a pioneer in talenttraining system reform and innovative talenttraining.

Supported by the Ministry of Educationof China, the Outstanding Teaching Award and jointly establishedby the China Teacher Development Foundation and Chen Yidan Charity Foundation, it is considered the most prestigious higher education prize in China.
