XJTU researchers find exceptional plasticity of bulk crystalline van der Waals semiconductor InSe
Recently, researchers from Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), ShanghaiInstitute of Ceramics of Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS) jointly published Exceptional plasticity in the bulksingle crystalline van der Waals semiconductor InSein Science.
Researchers found that two-dimensional van der Waals inorganic semiconductor indium selenide (InSe) has exceptional plasticity and deformability in the single-crystalline state. InSe shows both outstanding physical properties equal to traditional inorganic non-mental semiconductors and remarkable plasticity and machinability comparable to metals suggesting promising future applications.
XJTU researchers led by Professor Shan Zhiwei were responsible for the micromechanics tests and representations during research and paper-writing. Associate Professor Wang Yuecun of XJTU, Assistant Professor Wei Tianran of SJTU, and Professor Jin Min of Shanghai Dianji University are the co-first authors.
