Professor Zheng Shouqi, China's renowned computer scientist and the founder of XJTU's educational program of computer science, passed away on June 11, 2020 due to illness at the age of 93.

Professor Zheng was one of China's first generation experts in computer science and technology. Among the founders of China's computer science research, he developed China's first intelligent computer system, participated in research and development of China's first computer, co-authored China's first computer science textbook Principles of Computer, and established XJTU's educational program of Computer Science, making XJTU one of the earliest universities in China to offer computer education. Professor Zheng made significant contributions to China's education and the development of computer science and technology.

We are saddened to learn of Professor Zheng's passing. May he rest in peace.
