On February 15, 2019, the“Ordered Energy Conversion” Basic Science Center Projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) launched at XJTU. The event was hosted by CAS member professor Guo Liejin, who is also the director of the State Key Laboratory of Multiphase Flow in Power Engineering.

“Ordered Energy Conversion” Basic Science Center Projects of XJTU, with the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Nanjing University of Science & Technology as participants, was the first project in an engineering field funded by NSFC. The main center was located in Xi'an, with branch centers in Beijing and Nanjing.

The project focuses on the major demands for energy in China, targeting international frontier studies of energy science, and aiming to attract excellent scientific and technological talents and superior science research resources from home and abroad, so as to establish an original theory about ordered energy conversion, lead the development of international energy science and facilitate leapfrog development in the field of energy science. By providing transformational techniques to overcome energy shortage, environmental pollutionand other long-time bottleneck problems and to construct a clean, low-carbon, safe and highly efficient energy system, the project is committed to facilitate the technological and industrial revolution of energy.
