From August 25 to 26, 2018, jointly sponsored by the Department of Information and Science of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chinese Society for Cognitive Science (CSCS), Chinese Association of Automation (CAA), and IKCEST (International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology under the Auspices of UNESCO), the 1st China Symposium on Cognitive Computing and Hybrid Intelligence (CCHI 2018) was held in Xi'an. More than 600 experts, scholars and postgraduate students from over 130 famous universities and research institutes and 30 enterprises at home and abroad attended the symposium.

The symposium was undertaken by XJTU, the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the State Key Laboratory of Brain and Cognitive Science, XJTU Research Center of AI and Robotics, and XJTU National Engineering Laboratory for Visual Information Processing and Application, with MSRA-XJTU Joint Laboratory as co-organizer. Xi'an Municipal Committee and Xi'an Municipal Government provided positive support, as well as several enterprises, including Microsoft, Baidu, Face++, DJI, Lenovo, Google, iFLYTEK, etc.
