1. Delegation of Université de Montpellier visits XJTU

On the morning of July 25, 2018, XJTU vice president Xi Guang met with the delegation of Université de Montpellier led by its vice president Francois Henn.

XJTU vice president Xi Guang expressed his welcome to the delegation of Universit de Montpellier, and introduced the development status of XJTU, the UASR (University Alliance of the Silk Road), and the Innovation Harbor. He expressed his hopes about future cooperation with the Université de Montpellier at the Innovation Harbor on scientific research and talent cultivation.

Vice president Francois Henn gave a very detailed introduction of the Université de Montpellier, specifically the status quo of scientific research and the center of innovative development. He expressed his hopes to join in the UASR for expanding student exchanges as well as cooperation on scientific research between XJTU and the Université de Montpellier.

2. XJTU and HKPU seek research cooperation

On July 26, Wei Bingjiang (Alexander Wai), vice president of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU), and his delegation visited XJTU, seeking further cooperation on scientific research.

XJTU vice president Yan Hong met the delegation and introduced the progress of XJTU on constructing to be the “double first-class” university, university-enterprise cooperation, and scientific innovation. HKPU vice president Wei Bingjiang expressed his expectations on cooperative scientific research between both parties. Hopefully, XJTU and HKPU will establish cooperation in fields like translational medicine, global health studies, etc.

3. XJTU participates in China-Asian Education Cooperation Week

On July 27, 2018, the 11th China-Asian Education Cooperation Week – China-Kazakhstan Dialogue for University Presidents was held in Guizhou. Presidents from 14 higher institutions of Kazakhstan and over 30 universities of China as well as representatives of embassies attended the conference. XJTU vice president Xi Guang, on behalf of the university and the School of International Education, was invited to deliver a keynote speech.

4.XJTU holds International College Students Forum of World Famous Universities

On July 26, 2018, the 2nd Xi'an Kunming Lake International Famous Universities Rowing Regatta was held in XJTU. Rowing teams of 21 universities from China, UK, the US, Russia, Germany, Netherlands, and Australia participated in the competition.

Representatives from 13 universities had a discussion in the forum session, talking about the development status of rowing in universities at home and abroad, as well as the ways for promoting rowing culture.

The 2018 Xi'an Kunming Lake International Famous Universities Rowing Regatta was held after the Forum, in which 10 foreign universities and 11 Chinese universities participated.

5. XJTU promotes substantial cooperation with world universities

From July 31 to August 8, XJTU Council Board Chairman Zhang Maizeng and his delegation visited the University of Western Australia, the University of New South Wales,the University of Queensland, the Victoria University of Wellington, the Yamanashi Gakuin University, the University of Tokyo, the Waseda University and the RIKEN (the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research), promoting substantial cooperation from global perspectives. The delegation also held discussion with XJTU alumni in Sydney, Australia and Tokyo, Japan.
