On June 7, 2018, XJTU council chairman Zhang Maizeng met with Professor Ewan Mckendirck, the registrar of the University of Oxford.

XJTU council chairman Zhang Maizeng expressed his gratitude to Professor Ewan Mckendirck for his efforts on the successful implementation of students exchange programs established last year. He also introduced the construction progress of the XJTU Innovation Harbor, expressing his hope of inviting Professor Ewan Mckendirck to visit the Innovation Harbor, where XJTU and Oxford may establish more cooperation programs.

Professor Mckendirck, as the head of the University Administration and Services, said that he welcomes more XJTU students to study in Oxford, and is willing to discuss with XJTU about research collaboration, mutual recognition of credit and the establishment of exchange programs for doctoral students.
