The 13th IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering opened on August 21, 2017 in Xi'an. Under the theme of "The Automation of Next Industrial Revolution", many experts and scholars from home and abroad made academic reports and held seminars to provide think-tank support for the Belt and Road Initiative, and laid emphasis on collaborative innovation.

This conference was co-hosted by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and RAS (Robotics and Automation Society), with Xi'an Jiaotong University and Tsinghua University as joint organizers. XJTU Professor Guan Xiaohong chaired this conference. This is also the first time Xi’an has held this international event.
