On September 1, Vice Minister Du Zhanyuan of Ministry of Education visited thesite of Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbor. He listened in detail the building and plan of the harbor project and fully acknowledged the work done so far.

On the seminar, President Wang Shuguo introduced the building of XJTU colleges and reforms of graduate school and the creation of University Alliance of the SilkRoad (UASR) as well. Chairman Zhang Maizeng briefed on the three ideas regarding the harbor project. He pledged to build the harbor into the model project for the national reform and innovation to better serve the local economic community.

Vice Minister Du Zhanyuan identified the new development plan for the higher learning institutions. He spoke highly of the development of XJTU and building of the harbor project. He recommended that XJTU should well implement its plans to ensure successful execution of the harbor project. Furthermore, XJTU should value innovation-driven growth and relentlessly pursue theoretical, systematic and policy-related innovations to align itself with market and invigorate talent education. XJTU should also well broaden its network and publicize the harbor project to enhance its social impact and forge the university reputation.
